Dave Sanders with imaculate warbird. The image of cool.-84 viewsI stole this photo from some where. I think it's fantastic! It's the infamous Dave Sanders of DAW models(Mr. Cool). His warbirds have been the standard in conventional planes for years. Foamies and woodies, all GREAT. Plus, he's the best builder I've ever met; wish my hands were as talented. Good dude; great businessman. I showed up on his door step in '97. First time I'd met him in person and he rolled out the red carpet! Sadly, he got tired of living on minimum wage and stopped making kits. Too bad.

Mark Mech and an experimental plane-73 viewsMark Mech holding an experimantal design. Don't know if it ever flew. Mark, how'd it work out?

Dave Jones-60 viewsDave Jones, a writer and photographer by trade, owned a hobby shop in England, sold it to start publishing the excellent QFI magazine. He sold it to Traplet and continued working for them. He was in the process of buying the company, X-Models, when on the way home from negotiations, riding his motorcycle (a VFR, the choice of humble experts) on a country road in France, a truck pulled out in front of him. He loved flying, was interested in all aspects of R/C soaring and boost gliding. 1952-2000 RIP

Joe Galletti with his forward swept wingeron.-103 viewsJoe's not too widely known but he's famous to me and many others. He's the guy who designed the Foameron which I absolutely loved. And, the "Bob" hand launch which I also enjoyed tremendously. Genius designs that were made with the simplest of materials. Cheap materials, easily constructed yet his kits performed well. Genius! Plus, he's a talented writer. Like so many, he got tired of the low pay and stopped making kits. Pictured here, Joe is holding his experimental Sweepy.

Joe Wurts, In my opinion the best pilot on the earth. Only a few are even close. Oh yeah, he's won a few contests too! (I bet even he couldn't name them all)-76 viewsJoe can make any airplane situp and talk; from multi-thousand $$ glass speed planes to foamies! Golden thumbs extraordinaire. Plus, he's a fellow engineer. He's done the best job of any at combining the art of flying with knowing how the plane really flys. Another gift of his is reading lift. I've heard him described simply as a magician! Yet, another accomplishment of his was the discovery (with models) and popularizing of dynamic soaring! Here's a great JW bio: http://www.ljmp.com/jw.htm

Pat Bowman, Father of EPP airplanes! Also, a great pilot and fun to fly with!-72 viewsHe's holding one of the first Roughnecks, the first EPP plane sold along with the latest evolution of the plane. Pat started the entire market and has out-lasted all competitors. It's a tough game. Many have attempted it. Few could make it last. Bravo Pat! We are in your debt!
